However, he changed his stand at the behest of his party's central leadership and agreed to become the Deputy Chief Minister. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to Shinde and Fadnavis at the Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai after 7.30 pm. Shinde, a four-time MLA, began his swearing-in in the Thane district by paying tributes to late Shiv Sena leaders- Bal Thackeray and his political guru Anand Dighe.
