Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut recently opened up about her personal memories from the night of the devastating 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks while promoting her upcoming film Bharat Bhagya Vidhata.
During the trailer launch event of the film, Kangana revealed that she was attending a party with fellow actors and artists when news of the terror attack suddenly broke out, leaving everyone shocked and terrified.
The actress shared how filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt was the first person to alert them about the tragedy unfolding across Mumbai on the night of November 26, 2008.
‘We Were Dancing and Partying’: Kangana Reveals What Happened
According to PTI reports, Kangana Ranaut said she was at actress Shahana Goswami’s residence on Yari Road during the attacks.
The gathering reportedly included several struggling actors and artists associated with Vishesh Films at the time.
Recalling the incident, Kangana said:
“We were all working with Mahesh Bhatt saab and were in our struggling phase. Shahana Goswami had invited all of us to her house for a party.”
The actress further explained that everyone was enjoying the evening when filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt suddenly arrived and asked them to switch on the television.
“We were dancing and having fun when Bhatt saab came in and said, ‘Turn on the TV.’ Then he asked, ‘Is a terrorist attack happening?’”
Kangana added that the atmosphere changed instantly after the shocking news appeared on television screens.
Mahesh Bhatt Asked Everyone to Stay Indoors
Kangana Ranaut also revealed that Mahesh Bhatt advised everyone present at the gathering not to leave the house due to safety concerns.
According to the actress, there were nearly 20 to 25 people at the party, and everyone decided to remain indoors until the situation became clearer.
She said:
“We asked whether we should go home or continue staying there. Bhatt saab told us not to leave and to wait until things settled down.”
Kangana admitted that had Mahesh Bhatt not informed them, many of them would have remained completely unaware of the scale of the attacks unfolding across Mumbai.
26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks Shook the Nation
The 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks remain one of the darkest chapters in India’s history.
On November 26, 2008, ten Pakistani terrorists entered Mumbai through the Arabian Sea and launched coordinated attacks at multiple locations across the city.
The attackers targeted:
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station
Taj Mahal Palace Hotel
Oberoi Trident Hotel
Nariman House Jewish center
Cama Hospital and other locations
The attacks continued for nearly 60 hours and claimed the lives of 166 people, while hundreds were injured.
The incident shocked the entire nation and drew international condemnation.
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata Based on Courage at Cama Hospital
Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Bharat Bhagya Vidhata is inspired by the bravery displayed by nurses and hospital staff during the attacks at Cama Hospital.
Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film reportedly focuses on the untold stories of ward boys, nurses, and healthcare workers who risked their lives to protect patients amid the terror attack.
Kangana plays the role of a nurse in the movie.
The film also stars Girija Oak and Smita Tambe in important roles.
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata Release Date
The makers have announced that Bharat Bhagya Vidhata will release in theatres on June 12, 2026.
Following the emotional trailer launch and Kangana’s revelation about her own 26/11 memories, the film has generated significant interest among audiences online.
Fans are now eagerly waiting to see the powerful real-life-inspired story unfold on the big screen.
