Parineeti Chopra Reacts to Katrina Kaif’s Weight Trolling: “Why View It Negatively?”

Parineeti Chopra has come out in support of Katrina Kaif after the actress faced online trolling over her appearance following the birth of her son. Calling the criticism “uneducated and bizarre,” Parineeti questioned why physical changes experienced by women after childbirth are viewed negatively.
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal welcomed their son, Vihaan Kaushal, on November 7, 2025. After keeping a relatively low public profile following motherhood, Katrina recently made a public appearance at the Ambani family's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai, where she faced comments on social media about her postpartum appearance.
The controversy subsequently drew a response from Salman Khan, who criticised social media trolling directed at Katrina. Parineeti has now also addressed the issue while discussing her own approach to online criticism during promotions for her upcoming series Shaque: Trust No One.
Parineeti Chopra on Dealing With Online Trolling
During a conversation with IANS, Parineeti Chopra explained that she generally does not spend much time looking at social media comments about herself.
She said that even when she becomes aware of criticism, it does not affect her because she prefers to focus on her family, friends and personal life.
“I don't deal with it because actually, I don't even look at it,” Parineeti said, adding that she is largely unaware of what strangers say about her online.
She further explained that she does not give much importance to opinions from people she does not know and said she has no time for such negativity.
Parineeti Calls Katrina Kaif's Postpartum Trolling “Uneducated and Bizarre”
While discussing Katrina's experience, Parineeti strongly questioned the scrutiny faced by women after childbirth.
“I find it uneducated and bizarre,” she said, questioning why postpartum women are subjected to discussions about their bodies in the first place.
Parineeti argued that physical changes following pregnancy should not automatically be interpreted negatively. She described such changes as evidence of the physical demands of pregnancy and childbirth.
“If a woman has produced a baby and there is some evidence of that on her body, why is it negative?” she said, adding that she sees it as a sign of strength.

Parineeti also compared postpartum changes with other visible changes people experience in everyday life.
She pointed out that a tan can indicate that someone has spent time in a sunny location, while visible fitness changes can indicate regular exercise. Similarly, she questioned why changes to a woman's body after pregnancy should become a subject of negative discussion.
“So why is producing a human being for nine months, giving you the necessary changes in your body that were required to make that baby a healthy baby, why is that discussed? And even if it's discussed, why is it negative?” she said.
Her comments focused on the broader issue of how women's bodies are scrutinised after childbirth, particularly when celebrities return to the public eye.
Katrina Kaif Was Trolled After Ganesh Chaturthi Appearance
Katrina Kaif's recent public appearance with husband Vicky Kaushal at the Ambani family's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai sparked a wave of social media discussion.
Some users commented on her post-pregnancy appearance and compared it with photographs from earlier years. Other social media users pushed back against the criticism and defended Katrina against body-shaming.
Katrina and Vicky welcomed their son Vihaan in November 2025 and later publicly revealed his name and first photograph in January 2026.
Salman Khan Also Defended Katrina
Before Parineeti's comments, Salman Khan had spoken about the trolling directed at Katrina.
During Bigg Boss, Salman criticised social media users who target celebrities and questioned why Katrina should be subjected to criticism over her appearance while navigating motherhood.
Parineeti's remarks have now added another prominent voice to the discussion around postpartum body-shaming and the expectations placed on female celebrities after childbirth.
Parineeti Chopra Says Weight Should Not Be the Focus
Parineeti also questioned why something as ordinary as weight should become a subject of criticism.
She said that if she sees a woman who has recently given birth, she would rather recognise the physical changes as part of motherhood than treat them as something negative.
Her comments were directed at the broader social-media culture of judging women's appearances, particularly after pregnancy.
