Shah Rukh Khan has once again shown why he is known as Bollywood’s ‘King Khan’. During his latest #AskSRK session on X, the superstar gave a witty response when a fan asked him about the much-discussed box-office clash between his upcoming film King and Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday.
The exchange has attracted significant attention online, particularly because Shah Rukh’s response appeared to reaffirm that King remains firmly on track for its December 24, 2026 release.
Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pehle Baap Hi Aayega” Reply
During the #AskSRK session, a fan asked Shah Rukh Khan whether his son AbRam would watch Avengers: Doomsday first or King.
SRK responded with his trademark humour, saying, “Pehle baap hi aayega, beta”—roughly translating to, “The father will arrive first, son.”
The witty response quickly became a talking point among fans, with many interpreting it as Shah Rukh’s confident take on the upcoming December box-office battle.
King vs Avengers: Doomsday Release Clash
The release calendar has created one of the most anticipated Hollywood-Bollywood face-offs of the year.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 18, 2026, while Shah Rukh Khan’s King is set for December 24, 2026. The two films will therefore reach audiences within less than a week of each other.
Despite speculation about a possible postponement, recent reports confirm that King is staying on its December 24 date. Shah Rukh also addressed the film’s release during the latest fan interaction, making it clear that the project remains on schedule.
Siddharth Anand Directs Shah Rukh Khan’s King
King marks Shah Rukh Khan’s reunion with director Siddharth Anand, who previously directed him in the blockbuster Pathaan.
The action thriller is among the most awaited Hindi films of 2026 and has generated considerable anticipation because of SRK’s return to a major theatrical action role.
The December release window is expected to be highly competitive, with Avengers: Doomsday, Dune: Part Three and other major releases also occupying the holiday period.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Big-Screen Comeback
Shah Rukh Khan’s career saw a major turnaround in 2023 when he returned to theatres with Pathaan, followed by Jawan and Dunki.
After the 2018 release Zero, the actor stayed away from leading theatrical releases for several years before making his highly successful comeback in 2023.
Now, King represents another major chapter in SRK’s career. With Siddharth Anand at the helm and a packed Christmas release calendar, expectations around the film are already extremely high.
King vs Avengers: Doomsday — What to Expect
Shah Rukh Khan’s playful “father will arrive first” remark has added another layer of excitement to an already crowded December.
While Avengers: Doomsday brings the enormous Marvel Cinematic Universe to theatres, King will rely on Shah Rukh Khan’s massive Indian and global fan base. The real box-office battle will unfold once both films reach cinemas.
For now, one thing is clear: Shah Rukh Khan is not backing down from the Christmas 2026 showdown.
