Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has once again sparked discussion with her comments on the controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh and his reported exit from Don 3. Speaking in a recent interview, Kangana suggested that Ranveer may have been unfairly targeted following the success of his film Dhurandhar and made strong observations about prevailing narratives within the film industry.
Her remarks come weeks after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, a decision that was later withdrawn.
Kangana Ranaut Defends Ranveer Singh
During the interview, Kangana was asked why she believed Ranveer Singh had become the focus of criticism in the industry.
Initially, the actress stated that only Ranveer himself could fully explain the situation. However, when reminded that she too had experienced controversies and industry backlash in the past, Kangana offered her perspective.
According to Kangana, certain narratives promoted through films over the years have influenced public and industry reactions. She argued that some sections of the entertainment industry have historically portrayed specific geopolitical themes in a particular manner, leading to differing responses when films present alternative viewpoints.
‘After Dhurandhar, Ranveer Became a Target’
The discussion also touched upon the success of Dhurandhar, a film that reportedly resonated strongly with audiences.
Responding to questions about whether the controversy intensified after the film's success, Kangana suggested that projects portraying national security themes or sensitive geopolitical issues often generate strong reactions.
She implied that the popularity of Dhurandhar may have contributed to the increased scrutiny surrounding Ranveer Singh and his professional decisions.
What Was the Don 3 Controversy?
The controversy began after reports emerged that Ranveer Singh had allegedly exited Don 3, the highly anticipated next installment of the popular action franchise directed by Farhan Akhtar.
According to industry reports, concerns were raised regarding the timing of the reported exit, as preparations for the film were already underway.
Following these developments, FWICE reportedly issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor. Reports suggested that the move was linked to claims that the production house had suffered financial losses due to the unexpected developments surrounding the project.
However, the matter was later resolved after intervention from industry bodies, leading to the withdrawal of the directive.
About Dhurandhar
Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, featured Ranveer Singh in a high-intensity role centered on espionage, national security, and undercover operations.
The film attracted significant attention for its action sequences, patriotic themes, and large-scale storytelling. Industry reports indicate that the franchise achieved remarkable commercial success worldwide, making it one of the most talked-about projects of the year.
The movie's strong box-office performance further elevated Ranveer Singh's profile and contributed to widespread discussions across the entertainment industry.
Industry Reactions Continue
The controversy surrounding Don 3 and Ranveer Singh has generated varied reactions from filmmakers, artists, and trade organizations.
While some industry observers have called for greater professionalism and commitment to projects, others believe artists should retain the flexibility to make career decisions based on creative and professional considerations.
The episode has also reignited debates about how major film projects are managed and the impact of casting changes on large-scale productions.
