The connection between Bollywood and the underworld is quite old. In the '90s, the gangsters had such a hold on Hindi cinema that they would call any director, producer, or actor and extort money from them. Apart from Rakesh Roshan, a similar call also went to Bollywood's Anna Suniel Shetty.
Suniel Shetty, who is all set to rock with Akshay Kumar once again in Hera Pheri 3, recently told why the gangster tried to scare him. Suniel Shetty recently told in a podcast of an entertainment website that just as the gangsters dominated in Mumbai in the 90s, Shetty was also far ahead in the field of business. In such a situation, Hemant Pujari tried to target many people by keeping him on his shoulders. Kesari Veer actor said,
"There was a lot of tension between Shetty and the underworld in the 90s, because I was also a Shetty, so the gangsters felt that if they threatened or harmed me, the Shetty community would give them money. Hemant Pujari was calling me continuously. He and his man were threatening me by calling me on my number. My office manager was calling everywhere. He felt that if I got scared, all the Shettys would automatically get scared and pay the extortion money".
Suniel Shetty started abusing the gangster.
Recalling that incident, Suniel Shetty further said, "Once he called me and said that he would kill my father when he would go for a morning walk. I could not tolerate this and I silenced him by abusing him. I threatened him by saying that I know many times more about myself than he knows. I have more money and connections than him, so don't try to confront me".
When Suniel Shetty went to the police after recording the entire call, they advised the actor not to get angry. Let us tell you that along with acting, Suniel Shetty works very actively in the hospitality and real estate business.
