Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu is once again making headlines—this time for her honest and heartfelt comments about body image struggles and unrealistic beauty standards. Known for speaking candidly on social issues, the actress recently revealed how she pushed herself to physical exhaustion in an attempt to achieve the “perfect figure.”
Sharing her personal experience, Taapsee also made a strong appeal to young women, urging them not to stress themselves in pursuit of social media perfection.
Taapsee Pannu Reveals Her Struggle With Body Image
Taking to Instagram Stories, Taapsee Pannu spoke openly about her obsession with achieving a flat stomach during her younger years.
The actress admitted that despite always being physically fit, she constantly worried about stubborn lower abdominal fat and ended up overtraining in an attempt to eliminate it.
She shared, “I remember being obsessed with getting a flat stomach. I exercised so intensely that I pushed myself beyond my limits to the point of exhaustion.”
Taapsee explained that extreme workouts eventually had the opposite effect on her body.
Excessive Exercise Can Increase Water Retention
According to the actress, overtraining caused her body to retain water instead of reducing bloating.
She revealed that what many women consider “lower belly fat” is often a combination of natural fat and water retention that protects important reproductive organs.
Taapsee Pannu emphasized that excessive exercise can worsen the situation rather than improve it.
She further explained that every woman’s body functions differently and that accepting natural body variations is important for both physical and mental health.
Nutritionist Explained Why Lower Belly Fat Is Important
Taapsee also shared advice she received from her nutritionist, who explained that a slight amount of fat and water retention in the lower abdomen is completely natural and healthy.
According to the actress, the nutritionist told her that this protective layer is essential because it safeguards the reproductive organs.
The actress urged women not to compare themselves with unrealistic images seen online.
She said, “Please do not stress yourself just to post ‘perfect’ pictures on Instagram. A slight lower belly bulge and body fat are healthy.”
Fans Praise Taapsee for Promoting Body Positivity
Following her statement, fans on social media praised Taapsee Pannu for spreading awareness about body positivity and realistic fitness expectations.
Many users appreciated her honesty, saying her message would help young women avoid unhealthy workout habits and self-image pressure created by social media culture.
Taapsee Pannu’s Recent Work
On the professional front, Taapsee Pannu was last seen in the film Mulk, directed by Anubhav Sinha. Although the film received appreciation for its subject matter, it did not perform strongly at the box office.
With her latest comments, however, Taapsee has once again sparked an important conversation—this time about fitness pressure, mental well-being, and accepting natural body changes.
