South actor Vijay Babu arrested, actress accused of sexual harassment in return for work

Malayalam actor and producer Vijay Babu has been arrested for sexual assault. He was accused of sexual abuse by an actress in Kochi. Vijay Babu was arrested when he appeared for questioning at the Ernakulam South police station. The team probing the case has got permission from Monday to July 3 to interrogate Vijay Babu. Vijay Babu was accused by the woman earlier this year. The victim said that the actor had assaulted her several times in a flat in Kochi. Vijay Babu sexually abused her on the pretext of offering roles in films.
The investigation team will have to cooperate
The Ernakulam South police had registered a case against Vijay Babu on the complaint of the woman, which was received on April 22. Earlier on June 22, he had got anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court. According to the report, he was granted bail but he will have to cooperate with the investigating team in the case.
Identity was also disclosed
According to the report, Vijay Babu had allegedly fled to Dubai at that time. He returned earlier this month. The actor is also accused of revealing the identity of the victim on Facebook Live.
Vijay Babu called himself a victim
As Onmanorama reports, he said that he is the victim and that he will file a defamation suit. He also said that he was ready to face the consequences after revealing the name of the complainant. Vijay said that he would not let the complainant go easily.
Asked to step down at AMMA
Following these allegations, Vijay was asked to step down from the executive committee post of The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). AMMA spokesperson Adavela Babu said that they will take action against Vijay Babu as per the order of the court.
