The Gujarat High Court has given relief to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a case. The court has dismissed the criminal case against Shah Rukh. A case was registered against the actor in a stampede during the promotion of the film Raees in the year 2017. Actually, during the promotion program, a person died of a heart attack. Shah Rukh Khan was then booked for endangering the lives and personal safety of others.
A bench of Justice Nikhil S Kariel delivered the verdict in this case. He said that the work done on the part of Shahrukh Khan cannot be called negligence or haste. After which he accepted Shah Rukh's plea, seeking quashing of the summons issued against him by the Vadodara court.
The Gujarat High Court in its order said that whatever was done on behalf of Shah Rukh Khan cannot be said to be the reason for the unfortunate incident that took place at Vadodara railway station. In the FIR registered in this case, it was said that Shah Rukh Khan was traveling by train from Mumbai to Delhi for the promotion of his film 'Raees'. As the train stopped at the Vadodara railway station, a huge crowd gathered to see Shah Rukh Khan. Seeing the crowd, Shah Rukh threw smiley balls and T-shirts at them, after which people became uncontrollable and a stampede started.
During this, the police had to lathi-charge to control the stampede. One person was killed and several others were injured in the stampede. A policeman had also fainted during the program. After which local leader Jitendra Solanki lodged an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan in this case.
After the ongoing hearing since 2017, the High Court has now found that the complaint against Shah Rukh Khan was filed by a person who had no direct connection with the incident. The High Court also said that it needs to be considered whether it would be fair and just to allow a trial against Shah Rukh Khan in Vadodara and cause inconvenience to the common citizens of the city.
