Jan 24,2025
The accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case was produced in Bandra Court for the second time today, where his custody was sought to be extended. The Bandra Court has extended the custody of the accused till January 29. The arguments of the accused's lawyer regarding the CCTV footage will be important in this case. All eyes are on what information the Mumbai Police has gathered in the last five days of interrogation.
The accused appeared in Bandra Court.
Mumbai Police produced accused Shehzad in Bandra Court today on January 24 for an extension of custody period. The Court found that there has been sufficient progress in the case and it is necessary to investigate other consequential aspects. The crime is serious and triable by the Sessions Court. Such investigation is also necessary to ascertain the innocence of the accused, therefore, keeping in view all the facts, the submissions related to the notice under BNSS Section 35 are not applicable. Nothing emerged from the record from which it can be inferred that the arrest is illegal, hence the Court has extended the police custody of the accused till January 29.
Police statement in court
The Mumbai Police had sought further custody of the accused, suspecting the involvement of more accomplices in the stabbing case. Police said the suspect was not cooperating with the sources of the weapon he used for the crime. "We have still not found his shoes, which he wore during the crime," police said. Police have recovered a gamchha of the accused, which he used during the crime.
Police to record the statement of Kolkata residents.
