Many of you must be aware of the hard work Raj Kapoor had done for this film. But you may not know that he had to get permission from his wife to cast an artist in this film.

Mera Naam Joker was a romantic drama film in which apart from Raj Kapoor, stars like Manoj Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Simi Grewal, Dharmendra, Achala Sachdev, and Dara Singh Randhawa worked. The film was based on a boy struggling with poverty. Who works as a clown in a circus due to his financial condition. The deep challenges of life are hidden in his laughter. In this film, Raj Kapoor needed an artist to play his childhood role. That artist was none other than Rishi Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor played the childhood role of Raj Kapoor in the film. He looked so cute in the film that everyone became crazy about him. Rishi Kapoor himself told the story of how he got permission to work in the film in an interview.

Rishi Kapoor once mentioned this story in a conversation with Anupam Kher. The late actor had said that his father (Raj Kapoor) had asked his mother if he could take Rishi Kapoor to play the role of Young Joker in 'Mera Naam Joker'. He knew that I was going to school. My mother had said to this, 'I have no problem as long as there is no problem in his studies.' Hearing this, he told his mother, 'Mom, it is not going to make any difference whether I work or not. So as soon as my mother said yes I could work. I ran to my bedroom. I opened the drawer took out the entire scrap sheet and started practicing autographs.'
He set foot in the industry with this film.
Rishi Kapoor started his film career with Mera Naam Joker. In which he got the title of Best Child Artist for acting. However, as a lead hero, the actor made his debut with the film Bobby. In this film, Dimple Kapadia was seen in the lead role with him. Rishi Kapoor won many awards for his first film.
