Mistakes are lessons for Selena Gomez

Los Angeles, Jan 11 (IANS) Singer Selena Gomez says the mistakes she has made in her life so far have taught her a lot about herself and the people around her.

The 22-year-old pop-star experienced many ups and downs in 2014 -- splitting and getting back together with Justin Bieber -- on several occasions before seemingly separating for good, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Gomez also voluntarily checked into the Dawn at the Meadows rehabilitation centre in Arizona for personal reasons.

She says everything she has gone through has helped her become a better human being and made her realise that it's okay to be imperfect.

"I'm still young and going through the confusion women my age are feeling. Sometimes your mistakes are going to teach you more about life. I have to tell myself I can't be perfect and that I should enjoy all the good things that are happening.

"I've learned a lot about myself (over the past year) and how I want to move forward with my life. I also took some time off to focus on the things that make me happy and the friends I need to help me stay grounded," she told OK! magazine.

While she loves being a pop star, Gomez wants to focus on her acting career this year even though she hates auditioning for roles.

"It's tough to convince people that I'm right for certain films. I get so uncomfortable on auditions, and it's humbling in a wonderful way and making me a better actress. Whatever comes next, I can't wait," she said.
