Mast Mein Rehne Ka Review: Unique glimpse of the excellent acting of Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta, read where the film went wrong

Parents raise their children in the hope that they will support them when they grow old, but this rarely happens. Children grow up and become so busy with their family responsibilities that they do not worry about their parents. In such a situation, loneliness keeps hollowing a person from within. Life becomes more of a burden when one of the husband and wife is no more. How to live life in such a situation. Every aspect like small joys, sorrows, and forgotten memories has been shown very minutely in the film.
Two parallel stories run in the film 'Mast Mein Rehne Ka'. One story is of Mr. Kamat and Prakash Kaur and the other is of Nanhe and Rani. Mr. Kamat's wife has died. Life has started seeming like a burden to them. Prakash Kaur has been living in Canada with her son, but she has now come to Mumbai from Canada. After the departure of her husband, she is also broken from the inside, but never expresses it. Nanhe is a ladies' trailer but he is in so much debt that he is repaying his debt by stealing from the houses of elderly people living alone. Nanhe falls in love with Rani, a girl who begs at the traffic signal. The story of the film 'Mast Mein Rehne Ka' hinges on when, how, and where both the stories meet.
Vijay Maurya, writer-director of the film 'Mast Mein Rahne Ka', has written films like 'Gully Boy' and 'Tumhari Sallu'. In this film, he has tried to create a world similar to 'Gully Boy'. While through the characters of Nanhe and Rani, he has shown the mood of the people living in the slums of a metropolis like Mumbai, the characters of Mr. Kamat and Prakash Kaur reflect the helplessness and loneliness of the elderly living alone in the posh areas of Mumbai. When Nanhe goes to Kamat's house to steal, he asks the thief to kill him. But as soon as he meets Prakash Kaur, he feels that life can be lived afresh.
Jackie Shroff's performance in the role of Mr. Kamat has been quite impressive. Somewhere in his character, there is a glimpse of the film 'Life is Good', but his acting in the role of an old man living alone is amazing. Neena Gupta has also left her mark in the role of Prakash Kaur. Calling Mr. Kamat a Madrasi in conversation and Mr. Kamat's clarification on being called Madrasi are very emotional episodes of the film. Such small moments keep coming in the film that one feels that one should forget all the pain and sorrow in life and remain happy. There comes a phase in a person's life when a person lives life, but when life starts living a person, then how can one make his life favorable with time? This is what is shown in this film.
The work of Abhishek Chauhan in the role of Nanhe and Monica Pawar in the role of Rani is also commendable. Faisal Malik, who played the role of Deputy Pradhan in the Panchayat series, has breathed life into the role of fruit seller Baburam in the film. Rakhi Sawant's track in the film disturbs me a bit, but her character has been included in the story of the film in such a way that her role cannot be ignored. As good as the subject of the film is, technically the film is equally weak. Still, if the film had been promoted well then it would have been successful in reaching the audience.
