Lock Up: Supreme Court refuses to hear petition against Kangana's show 'Lockup', copyright was alleged

Kangana Ranaut's show 'Lockup' remains in the headlines every day. Recently, the show has once again come into the limelight. The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain an appeal challenging an order of the Telangana High Court. At the same time, the petitioner was also suggested to go to the trial court. Ekta Kapoor's show was accused of copyright.
A bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice BV Nagarathna asked the petitioner Pride Media to approach the trial court for an early hearing on the petition. He said that the petitioner can approach the trial court for speedy disposal of the petition. Senior advocate CM Vaidyanathan appeared in court on behalf of the petitioner.
Ekta Kapoor's show Lockup was accused of copyright infringement, after which the matter reached the court. The petitioner, Sanobar Baig, had said that the concept by the name 'The Jail' belonged to him. He shared his idea with Abhishek Rege of Endemol Shine and Abhishek betrayed him. Due to this, the Hyderabad Civil Court had banned 'Lockup' to stream on any platform.
It was also argued on behalf of Pride Media that the making of 'The Jail' was delayed due to the lockdown. In this, a script was also prepared to keep 22 celebrities together for 100 days, which was stolen. Regarding this matter, the High Court had said that Alt Balaji had already produced the show and a lot of money was spent on marketing too. Considering the convenience, this matter is in their favor.
