What did the Supreme Court say?

Due to the controversy over Kamal Haasan starrer 'Thug Life', the Karnataka Theater Association had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to provide security. During its hearing, a bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan asked the Theater Association of Karnataka to approach the Karnataka High Court. Apart from this, Justice Prashant Mishra, refusing an immediate hearing, said that fire extinguishers should be installed in theaters and asked the petitioner to go to the High Court.

Actor Kamal Haasan made controversial remarks on the Kannada language during the promotion of his film 'Thug Life', after which he was opposed a lot and there was a demand not to release his film in Karnataka. Given this, Kamal Haasan's film 'Thug Life' was released on 5 June everywhere except Karnataka. Since then, theatres in Karnataka have received threats. A lawyer who filed a petition on behalf of the theatre association said that some groups opposing the screening of the film are openly threatening that theatres will be set on fire. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court regarding this.
