Jersey Box Office Collection Day 3: Shahid's film 'Jersey' in the storm of 'KGF 2', piled up in the first weekend itself

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is trying to make a comeback towards superstardom with his last two films 'Padmaavat' and 'Kabir Singh', doesn't seem to be getting fulfilled at the box office. The film has succumbed to the Hindi dubbed version of the Kannada film 'KGF 2' within the first three days of its release. The makers of the film did not have faith in this film and due to this, the promotion of this film, adorned with the best performances of Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapur, was not done properly. Not only this, even in the theaters where the film is being held, its shows are not seen as per law. Sources in the film business reveal that a plan is also in the works to keep Shahid Kapoor's film shows at least in theatres.

'Jersey' stuck between giants

The release dates of Hindi cinema have been monopolized by the stalwarts of the film industry from the beginning. Big production houses fix the release dates of their films a year in advance. Then the smaller producers have to trap their films on the Fridays they think are empty in between. The same story goes for the release of the film 'Jersey'. The film has gone back and forth so many times that the general audience's interest in the film has been lost. Even before the film reached the theaters on April 22, except in Mumbai city, it did not show any special promotion in all the other big cities of the country.

The collection did not increase on Sunday

Shahid Kapoor's last film 'Kabir Singh' did a banging business at the box office. The film 'Jersey' is also a film adorned with Shahid Kapoor's stellar performance, but the film's opening at the domestic box office got only four crores rupees. The film's earnings showed a good jump on Saturday and the film managed to do a net collection of about Rs 5.50 crore on this day, but on Sunday, the film stayed there. The message that there is no change in the collection of the film on Sunday as compared to Saturday is clear that people are not getting interested in the film.

The condition deteriorated in the first weekend itself

The film 'Jersey' has made a total net collection of about Rs 15 crore in the first three days of its release i.e. the first weekend, according to the initial figures. According to the agreement between the manufacturer, distributor, and the display, then only a maximum of 40 percent of this has to reach the manufacturer. To get hit film status, a film must do at least three times its film distribution rights at the box office.

Heaps in front of 'KGF Chapter 2'

Shahid Kapoor's film 'Jersey' is facing the biggest brunt due to the success of the Kannada film 'KGF Chapter 2' which is making a splash in Hindi. While the film 'Jersey' is gasping to reach a total of Rs 15 crore in the first-weekend collection itself, the film 'KGF Chapter 2' Hindi has hit a half-century in the second weekend. The film 'KGF Chapter 2' earned Rs 11.56 crore on Friday, Rs 18.25 crore on Saturday, and Rs 21 crore for Raviva on the second weekend.
