The Customs Department is conducting raids at several locations in Kerala, including the Kochi residences of actors Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. According to reports, these raids are related to vehicles imported from Bhutan. The Kerala Motor Vehicles Department has also arrived.
Customs is tracking vehicle purchasers from Bhutan.
Official sources stated that Customs officials are conducting raids at several locations in Kerala. The purpose is to identify those who are bringing vehicles from Bhutan to India using fake registrations to evade taxes. They stated that the raids, codenamed "Operation Numkhor," include the homes of Malayalam actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Dulquer Salmaan. "Numkhor" means "vehicle" in Bhutanese.
Raids are taking place at multiple locations
Simultaneous raids are being conducted at various locations, including Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. Customs officials said the raids were being conducted following reports of expensive vehicles being brought in from Bhutan disguised as second-hand vehicles without paying taxes. They said there were about 15 such violations. When asked about the raids on the residences of film stars, an official from the Customs Preventive Commissionerate said their vehicle documents were being checked.
