When the film could not find distributors to release in theatres, preparations started to release it directly on OTT. Discussions started that when this film should be released as a series, Akshay Kumar somehow made sure that the film should be allowed to remain a film and should not be made into a series.

Meanwhile, the box office value of Akshay Kumar has come from heaven to earth. All three of his films released this year have flopped. In the meantime, the name of 'Mission Cinderella', made at a cost of around Rs 175 crore, has been changed to 'Katputli'. There are also discussions that by selling it on OTT, its cost has been recovered by the makers.
