Meanwhile, before the release, the film has got the support of director-producer Anurag Kashyap. Anurag Kashyap has praised John Abraham's acting in the film.

In a conversation with The Hindu, director Anurag Kashyap praised 'The Diplomat' and John Abraham and said, "I liked 'The Diplomat' a lot. I told John that after a long time I am seeing you becoming a very good actor. He is not doing unnecessary action or heroism in the film. He is just playing a character. Shivam Nair has made a great film." What is Anurag's plan for 'Smoking 2'

Anurag Kashyap, who made the film 'Smoking' with John Abraham in 2007, further said, "When I praised John, he again said to me, let's do 'Smoking 2'. John wants this, but I need a good subject for this film. After a while, this film has become a cult film. Therefore, fulfilling people's expectations becomes an even bigger challenge. I will go in that direction only when I have a great subject and story.

Apart from John Abraham, Sadia Khateeb, Prapti Shukla, Jagjit Sandhu, Ashwath Bhatt, Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, Ram Gopal Bajaj and Benjamin Gilani will also be seen in important roles in 'The Diplomat' directed by Shivam Nair. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, John Abraham, Vipul D. Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Sameer Dixit, Jatish Verma and Rakesh Dang.
