Dayaben aka Disha Vakani has been missing from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for a long time. Disha took maternity leave in the year 2018 and after that, she did not return to the show. Recently, the show's producer Asit Modi said that he has been trying to bring the actress back on the show for a long time.

Now in an interview given to News 18 Showsha, Asit Modi has said many things about Dayaben's return to the show again. He said that it is necessary for the iconic character to return. The actor said that many times there has been a delay from his side in this matter.
Is the work getting delayed because of this?
Asit Modi said, "It is very important to bring Dayaben back because I also miss her. Sometimes circumstances change in such a way that some things happen and they get delayed. Sometimes the story becomes long."
Sometimes some big events come up. There were elections in 2024, there was IPL and then the World Cup match and the rainy season came. Due to some reasons, it gets delayed."
When will Disha Vakani return to the show?
Asit told in a conversation that Disha Vakani may not return to the show again. The actress is currently busy taking care of both her children. Asit said, "I am still trying. I believe that Disha Vakani cannot come back. She has two children. She is like my sister. Even today we have a very close relationship with her family. My sister Disha Vakani has tied a Rakhi to me. Her father and brother are also a family to me. If you have worked together for 17 years, then it becomes your extended family."
He further said that auditions are still going on for the role of Daya Ben. According to this, in the coming time, you may soon get to see the new Dayaben on the set. She will be given a warm welcome on the set.
