Sam Bahadur Review: 'Sam Bahadur' is a way to know about a courageous war hero, don't miss it.

Dec 01,2023

Sam Bahadur! This is the name of Vicky Kaushal's film released today. And... This film is based on the life of the country's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Before knowing about the film, let us know about Sam Bahadur. His brief introduction is that he played an important role along with Indira Gandhi in separating East Pakistan from Pakistan establishing Bangladesh and strengthening India. When Indira Gandhi took a strong decision on the political axis, Sam Manekshaw, as the topmost officer of the army, created history by making this decision of Indira Gandhi successful. Before the war, he had written to Indira Gandhi on a pamphlet telling her when the war would start. Even before this war of 1971, he displayed bravery on many occasions. He was in service since India and Pakistan were one country and there was British rule. During his forty years of service, from the Second World War to the India-China War of 1962, he led the country to victory in many major battles.

Beginning: The series started in childhood
Now let's come to the film. Vicky Kaushal has played the role of Sam Manekshaw in this film. 'Raazi' fame director Meghna Gulzar has directed 'Sam Bahadur'. It begins with Sam Bahadur's childhood when he was swinging in the cradle. The parents have named Cyrus, but they become worried about the name of their child because last night a thief with the same name was caught in the locality. After this, Sam Bahadur is shown as a straight soldier, who is seen wearing a uniform and with a raised chest. Sam Bahadur became a part of World War II. Go to Burma. Let's fight the war of 1962. Many take part in the battle, which you will see in the film.

Acting: Top of Vicky Kaushal's acting
Vicky Kaushal played the role of Sam Bahadur in the film. It would not be wrong if we call this film the top point of Vicky Kaushal's acting. He has acted amazingly. He is completely engrossed in the character of Sam Manekshaw. Vicky Kaushal has shown charisma in every respect - the authority of a military officer, foresight, decision-making ability, demeanor, and style of conversation. Looking at him on screen, one can imagine how much hard work he must have done for this character. He has played the role of Sam Manekshaw with all his might, just like Sam Manekshaw saved the pride of the country by sacrificing his life.

ample opportunities to laugh
If you think that this film will be a bit boring because it is on subjects like the army, politics, and war, then this is just your prediction. Even amidst war-like situations, there are many such occasions in this film when you can laugh openly. While watching the film, you can imagine how amazing Sam Mankeshaw's sense of humor must have been! In this film, there is not only war and military discipline, but there are many laughing scenes even amidst serious situations. At one place on the screen, he is seen even calling PM Indira Gandhi 'Sweetie'. Similarly, he smiles even after being hit by nine bullets in the body during the Burma war.

Why go see it?
When you have the option of watching the spy universe's 'Tiger 3' and another big star film released today whose shows also start early in the morning, then why should you go and watch 'Sam Bahadur'? So the answer is- If you like army and war-based films, are interested in history, like patriotic subjects then close your eyes and go watch this film. This film will also enrich your knowledge about the country's past. A film worth watching with the family and a great opportunity to introduce kids to a war hero, don't miss it.

why not go
It would be unfair to Sam Bahadur's bravery and Vicky Kaushal's acting to compare it with any other film, but if you have to give a reason, then keep in mind that if you are only interested in pure masala and drama films, then perhaps you will like this film less.

Vicky Kaushal kept the audience engaged
Throughout the film, it seems that Vicky Kaushal alone has shouldered the responsibility of keeping the audience engaged. Apart from him, no special attention was paid to the rest of the star cast. Apart from Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra (role of Sam Bahadur's wife), Fatima Sana Shaikh (Indira Gandhi), Neeraj Kabi (Pandit Nehru) and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub (Yahya Khan). The stature of Pandit Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and even Indira Gandhi in the world of politics has not been shown in the film nor has their attitude been seen anywhere.

Vicky Kaushal covered all the flaws
The war scenes are also not shown very closely in the film. In a scene of the film, to boost the morale of the soldiers, Sam Manekshaw sends them a message with bangles that 'If you can't carry a gun, then wear bangles'. Hearing this message the enthusiasm of the army increases. Apart from the debate over whether Sam Mankeshaw said this or not...this scene probably should not have been shown in the film. There are many other similar points. However, Vicky Kaushal has been very successful in covering up some of the shortcomings of Meghna Gulzar's direction with his acting. He has held the film firmly from beginning to end. Just like Sam Bahadur did for the security of the country.
