Ranveer's fans targeted Rishab Shetty over the Kantara controversy, saying, "If the deities were angry, then why was the film a blockbuster hit?"

Dec 16,2025

Ranveer Singh is currently enjoying the success of his film 'Dhruva'. The film is doing exceptionally well at the box office. Meanwhile, a controversy involving Ranveer and 'Kantara' has resurfaced. Ranveer had faced criticism for mimicking Rishab Shetty's character from 'Kantara Chapter 1' at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025). He was accused of insulting the deity depicted in the film. Ranveer later apologized for his actions. However, Rishab Shetty's subsequent comments on the matter at an event angered Ranveer's fans. They have now defended Ranveer and criticized Rishab Shetty, linking the controversy to the success of 'Dhruva'.

What Rishab Shetty said:
After Ranveer Singh apologized for the incident, Rishab Shetty recently reacted to the matter at an event in Chennai. Speaking about the controversy, Rishab said that anyone who makes fun of the deities makes him uncomfortable. He added that while most of the film is based on cinema and acting, the divine element is sensitive and sacred. He said, "Wherever I go, I request people not to portray it on stage or ridicule it. It is deeply connected to us emotionally."

Ranveer's fans target Rishab Shetty:
Now, Ranveer's fans have expressed their anger over Rishab Shetty's statement. Ranveer's fans believe that Rishab Shetty's statement was an attempt to drag Ranveer back into the controversy, even though Ranveer had already apologized. Sharing the news of Rishab's statement, a Ranveer fan linked it to the success of 'Dhruva' and criticized Rishab Shetty. The fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "If the deity was angry with Ranveer Singh for mimicking him, then why did 'Dhruva' become such a huge hit?"  'Dhruva' has reportedly earned ?600 crore worldwide in just 11 days. Another person said, “Rishabh and anyone with even a little common sense know that Ranveer never had any bad intentions. I don't understand why people invoke God's name to morally police others. God doesn't judge us for unintentional mistakes, so why should we?”

Ranveer apologized after the controversy escalated.
Two weeks ago, Ranveer landed in controversy during the IFFI ceremony in Goa when he mimicked deities on stage despite Rishabh's disapproval. Following the criticism, Ranveer also apologized.
