Ranveer Singh: Following the 'Kantara' controversy, Ranveer Singh visits Chamundeshwari Devi Temple; photos go viral.

Ranveer Singh: The ‘Dhurendhar’ star Ranveer Singh arrived at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore on Tuesday to offer prayers. He took this step following allegations that he had hurt religious sentiments. Ranveer Singh acted in compliance with the directives of the Karnataka High Court regarding his controversial mimicry of the ‘Daiva’ from the film Kantara.
Court Orders Him to Offer Prayers
It is worth noting that Ranveer Singh’s visit to the temple followed a directive issued by the Karnataka High Court in connection with the Kantara mimicry case. In April, Ranveer Singh had submitted an affidavit to the court regarding this matter and tendered an unconditional apology. Subsequently, the court ordered him to offer prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple within four weeks.
Ranveer Arrives Wearing a Mask
Ranveer Singh complied with the court’s order and offered prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. His visit was kept largely under wraps. The actor was spotted at Mumbai Airport on Tuesday morning. He wore a mask until he reached the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Later, he entered the sanctum to perform the rituals.
What Was the Full Case?
This case stems from an incident that occurred on November 30, 2025, during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa. During the ceremony, Ranveer Singh mimicked the ‘Daiva’ sequence from the film Kantara—a scene featuring the film’s director and lead actor, Rishab Shetty. The video of Ranveer Singh’s act went viral on social media. Consequently, he faced severe criticism from a section of the Kannada-speaking community.
Ranveer Singh Apologizes
Subsequently, Ranveer Singh responded to the criticism via an Instagram post and apologized for his actions. He wrote, “My intention was to highlight Rishab’s performance in the film. As an actor, I understand the immense effort required to execute that specific scene exactly as Rishab did. I hold him in the highest regard for this. I have always respected every culture, tradition, and faith within our country.” “If I have hurt anyone’s sentiments, I apologize.”
Ranveer Had Filed a Petition
In this matter, an FIR was registered against Ranveer Singh on charges of allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Kannada community. In February, Ranveer Singh had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking relief. At that time, the Court directed the authorities not to take any coercive action against him.
