Biography:

Saumya Tandon is an Indian actress. She co-hosted Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout (based on the Wipeout format) with Shah Rukh Khan in 2011. She has hosted Dance India Dance and co-host for Bournvita Quiz Contest along with Derek O'Brien. She was in the Imtiaz Ali directed movie Jab We Met, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, where she plays the role of Kareena's sister, Roop.

Early life

She completed her schooling at St. Mary's convent in Ujjain.She is also an MBA from Fore School of Management. Her father, Dr. B. G. Tandon, was a Professor and Head of the Department of English at Vikram University in Ujjain and was an authority on Shakespearean literature who wrote 17 books on different branches of English literature. She is a poet and collection of self composed poems was published in the form of a book called Meri Bhavnayein which was nominated for Modi young writer national award.

Career

Modelling and soaps

Saumya took up modelling assignments early in her career. She is now anchoring a popular reality show on Zee TV called Dance India Dance. She is also hosting the very popular and old show Bournvita Quiz Contest with Derek O' Brien on Colors. She is the first female quiz master of India.

Saumya is the on-ground host of the show Zor Ka Jhatka, which premiered on 1 February 2011. It is the Indian version of one of the biggest international game shows called Wipeout, hugely successful in US and UK. The show is being shot in Buenos Aires with a bunch of Indian television and sports personalities. Shahrukh Khan anchors the show from the confines of a closed studio, while Saumya Tandon holds the fort on-location.

Saumya hosted the twelfth edition of comedy circus named Comedy Circus Ke Taansen, which was judged by Archana Puran Singh and Daler Mehndi.

Movies

Saumya made her movie debut in the Imtiaz Ali directed romantic movie Jab We Met, starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. She plays the role of Roop, Kareena's sister.

Dance India Dance — seasons one, two and three

Saumya's appearance as a host of Dance India Dance till year 2010 has rocked the show. Her expressions and humor are just the perfect blend of beauty and mind. Recently she was awarded best anchor on Indian television for 2010. Now she has just finished the third season of DID.
