Biography: Career

Although McIntyre started his career acting mainly in short films, the actor had more promising roles guest starring in Australia's popular television series Rush and Neighbours. McIntyre made his US television debut guest starring in an episode of the award nominated HBO mini-series The Pacific.

McIntyre was chosen as the replacement for Andy Whitfield in the title role for the Starz television series Spartacus. Whitfield withdrew from the role prior to his death, when his cancer recurred while filming. Production on the second season of Spartacus resumed in the fall of 2011 and premiered on 27 January 2012. McIntyre will be appearing alongside Kellan Lutz in The Legend of Hercules.

McIntyre was born in Adelaide, Australia. In 2010, McIntyre began dating Australian singer and actress Erin Hasan, who starred in the original Melbourne and Sydney productions of musical Wicked as the Glinda standby. They were engaged in December 2012, and got married on 5 January 2014.
